Let’s be honest- our kitchens are a mess most of the time. This is the place of a house where proper hygiene is expected by everyone. But keeping a kitchen clean is not an easy job, especially if you cook more than one meal a day. After meal prepping, cooking and washing the dishes, most of us lose the energy to do the extra cleaning. It is difficult but not impossible to quickly clean your kitchen if you follow some clever tips and tricks.
Keep it minimal
If you want an all-time sparkling kitchen, you should go with a minimal kitchen. Minimal kitchens are user-friendly and not difficult to maintain. And the best thing is these kitchens are not easily cluttered and cleaning is less frustrating. The designs of most minimal kitchens are simple and linear so there is less possibility of dirt build-ups.
Work smarter, not harder
There are a lot of hacks and homemade cleaners on the internet for unclogging kitchen sink pipes. They will tell you to use baking soda, vinegar etc. to unclog the pipe. But why do all that when you can prevent it from happening? Did you know that if you pour some hot water down the drain now and then it won’t get clogged in the first place? You can do it using your boiling water tap or leftover hot water from your tea kettle.
Better time management
Whenever you are doing something in the kitchen, make the most of your time. If you are waiting for your dishwasher to finish the load, do some decluttering in the meantime. You don’t have to stare at your microwave when you can quickly wipe the counters until your food is ready.
A place for everything
Your kitchen should have a designated place for everything. When you overload your countertops with jars, utensils, pots and pans, your kitchen tends to get disorganised easily. Less counter space makes meal-prepping harder and clumsier. But when you organise things by category and make a place for everything, your kitchen will look better instantly.
Get everyone involved
Maintaining a kitchen alone is difficult, specifically if you have children or a big family. It is good to get everyone involved in cleaning chores, you don’t have to do everything alone. Make it seem fun if you have a kid and set some rules. You can make chore lists and give everyone a few tasks that they have to do every day.
One step at a time
When you are cleaning the kitchen, don’t try to do all of it at once. Deep cleaning is a time-consuming and frustrating process. Trying to get it done in a hurry can be overwhelming. When you are deep cleaning the kitchen, divide the whole kitchen into sections and make a proper schedule. For instance, clean out the cupboards and cabinets on day one, scrub the oven and sink on day two etc.
Remind yourself that kitchen cleaning is a never-ending task and take it easy. Your kitchen doesn’t have to be sparkling clean all the time. Just maintain general hygiene and don’t procrastinate and you are good to go.
