If your kitchen is too old, or you are tired of its appearance, it is time to change something. However, it is often not a small investment, but with the help of these tips, it is possible to save a lot of money.

In order to save money, most people try to avoid hand-created kitchen compositions, because such kitchens can be seen as too expensive. However, if you inquire well with different craftsmen, or manage to find a good carpenter that does custom house design, you can quickly realize that handmade kitchen elements of exceptional quality can come within budget.

The first step in cutting costs may be to keep the existing layout in your kitchen space. If you think you have a good foundation, you can start by adding better quality doors and work surfaces, specially created for your kitchen. This procedure will change the look of the entire ambiance and turn it into a masterpiece in the blink of an eye.

In the same way, you can opt for only one or two new elements, but also reduce the number of units you need. Both options can save you a lot of money, but still, give you the look of specially designed finishes.

1. Ready to install

Another option is to choose ready-to-install elements. If you think that these pieces limit your design possibilities, one look at the inspiring photos that abound can convince you otherwise.

This is an ideal option if you need to replace everything you have in the kitchen and can allow you to create your personal layout while getting a modern kitchen with a fantastic look.

2. Open shelves

Another option to save money is to opt for open shelves as the opposite approach to door elements. Small concessions can make a big price difference, even when using perforated units.

Of course, you need to be at peace with the fact that all your kitchen items are outdoors and the way they finish the look of your kitchen. Of course, there is no point in saving money if you do not like the end result.

3. Lighting

Recessed lighting can look fantastic in the kitchen, however, it also comes as an expensive and demanding installation option. It is necessary to drill many holes in the ceiling and install new cables. These procedures can increase costs, and depending on the structure you are working with, drilling from below or from the top floor may be required to allow access.

Instead, the best solution is to opt for strip lighting, which is generally cheaper and far easier to install. These pieces provide the same amount of light but can be adjusted to provide focus in special places.

4. Install yourself

A large part of the kitchen renovation process can be installation costs. You need a carpenter, a plumber, and most likely an electrician for everything. If you want to save a lot of money and do most of the work yourself, simply call in professionals to finish the job and add different details as needed.

5. Save up on the appliances

Indispensable appliances in every kitchen are a refrigerator, dishwasher, stove, and sink. If you think that the existing elements are still functional and can still serve you, there is no need to buy new ones. Better use the money elsewhere, to renovate something that could be more of a priority. However if your appliances starting to show signs of wear or breaking down, it might be time to take advantage of your home warranty plan to get them repaired.

6. Make everything look the same, by doing some DIY

Consider the possibility of installing the appliances inside the elements. And, adjust the look of the appliance to the look of the rest of the kitchen and the space attached to it. How can you achieve this without investing a lot of money? Simple, just buy some self-adhesive wallpaper, in the design you like and feel would suit best with the rest of the interior, and place it on every single element, so a uniform look is achieved. These can look very stylish, they are easy to maintain (just wipe them as you would normally do), and they can be changed every time you get tired of the design. This way, your old elements can appear brand new.

7. Choose a more affordable worktop

Whatever the material, the worktop is a very important element of your kitchen. The material mostly used for this purpose is granite, which exists in various colors, but is usually placed in white, black, green, and beige. You can also take into account the wooden surfaces that have been used very often lately, they are easy to maintain and scratches are not visible on them. Not to mention the fact that they are way cheaper than granite. When choosing a worktop, choose colorful materials so that not all the dirt is visible on them. White and black are quite ungrateful because every trace can be seen on it, even though the minimalist look it gives is appealing to many.

Renovating can be exhausting not just financially, but also mentally and physically. Dealing with so many people involved in a process requires a lot of patience, and can be draining.

So that the entire project of renovating your kitchen would not turn into a nightmare, carefully make a financial construction. Plans for the future are also important. If you plan to live in the house for at least another 5 years, plan a new kitchen to suit your family. That it is multifunctional. Don’t be selfish. You need to spend money on things that you will not change soon.

You can save a lot of money by choosing cheaper handles and simpler mechanisms for opening drawers. If money is not a problem for you, we suggest investing in drawer stoppers. There are always unforeseen expenses, pay attention to them as well.
